Beauty around every corner in Luxembourg City

We were stunned at how photogenic Luxembourg City was. With its quaint cobbled streets, historic buildings, and views straight out of a fairytale, this picturesque city is full of charm. And visiting in October only added to the beauty of this place – the paths around the city and the Alzette river were lined with gorgeous autumnal colour!

Larochette Castle rewards you with a King’s view

First thing you’ll notice is the backdrop of Larochette Castle which gives the town a fairy tale feel! To top it off the cobbled narrow streets definitely add to the magical feel. On our first venture out we explored some of the towns lovely little cafes surrounding the square with great views of the medieval castle.

Luxembourg’s Kalktuffquelle – Let it go, Let it go…

It has been cold recently in Luxembourg, like, really cold. I’m talking way down into negative double figures.
But when the weather gets this cold, something beautiful happens in Luxembourg: a “tufa” spring in the Mullerthal goes all, well… frozen.

Esch-sur-Sûre for sure

Another cute little fairytale town with a castle, although this one is in ruins (the castle, not the town). The original 8m tall tower still stands on a giant cliffside, and the town is almost completely encircled by the winding Sûre River.

Lovely little Vianden

Vianden is lovely. I fell in love with this small town while I was still on the bus. It has a small river winding its way through the town, with steep hills either side, and the houses are old and quaint, the streets are cobbled and quiet. It’s probably busy at the height of summer, but at the beginning of October it was nice and peaceful.

Hiking in a fairy tale called Müllerthal

The Müllerthal region is one of the most spectacular region of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and a hiking paradise. Nicknamed the Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland, it displays incredible rock formations which you simply wouldn’t expect to find there.
