Lavertezzo doesn’t need a season to shine

Lavertezzo is by far one of my favorite places in Switzerland with incredible turquoise waters and smooth sunbathing rocks as well as good Italian food (thanks to its close proximity to the border of Italy). Increasingly more popular, this spot is great in spring, summer, and fall although the hotter it is the more likely it is to be crowded (so get here earlier if you can!).

Surprised by the quaintness of Zürich

Zürich enchanted us right from the outset. Expecting something of a super-urbanised banking city metropolis, we were surprised to find a town which was so quaint that it could be the setting of a nursery rhyme, with its gothic spires, cobbled streets and oversized clocks.

Pack a picnic and head to Seealpsee

Nestled in-between the cantons of St. Gallen and Appenzell, the Alpstein massif is home to a mountain lake that promises to take your breath away. Climb through the shadows of the pine forests, under the watchful eye of the Säntis’ pyramidal peak, as you make your way to this the pristine lake.

Meet me at Lucerne’s Kapellbrücke bridge

En route to Zurich from Bern, you can stop at this Swiss gem of a city. Lucerne (or “Luzern”) is situated in the midst of nature, with its eponymous lake and view of the Alps within it. The city is famous for its Chapel Bridge, a 14th-century bridge which has burned down several times over the centuries, but continues to stay upright.

Visit Zermatt, and so we did

To ever see Matterhorn with my own eyes seemed quite unreal. But, to be fair, living in the Swiss Alps – even more so. That would have been something unthinkable years ago. But hey, I’m here now. Therefore, living less than a 3-hour drive away from Zermatt was a reason good enough to finally go visit Zermatt and see the beast that Matterhorn is. And so we did!

An Exciting and Memorable Road Trip around Switzerland

When you are roaming around in the Swiss Alps, you are bound to see breathtaking scenery throughout, but Lauterbrunnen valley amazes everyone who visits it. On both sides of this expansive valley are spectacular cliffs climbing up to 300 meters till they meet the woody slopes.
