Durmitor National Park, a magnificent massif in the Dinaric Alps where wild wolves and brown bears roam freely. Its grassy meadows, silent glacier lakes and various towering peaks, the highest being mount Bobotov Kuk at 2523 m, had lured us to Zabljak, the gateway to the national park.

We found it! An off the beaten path destination that stole our hearts. That made time feel as if it stood still. Tucked away in the Bavarian Alps lies the quiet, little, quintessential, dream-like village of Ramsau.

Salzburg has the look of an enchanted folk story village whilst maintaining a buzzing city atmosphere. It is the combination of old and new which makes Salzburg truly special. Its Baroque styled domed buildings add to the city’s old world charm.

It was literally love at first sight moment with this place. A highway with scenic views on both sides going directly into the mountains and it slowly reveals the magic of one of the most beautiful places that we have witnessed.

En route to Zurich from Bern, you can stop at this Swiss gem of a city. Lucerne (or “Luzern”) is situated in the midst of nature, with its eponymous lake and view of the Alps within it. The city is famous for its Chapel Bridge, a 14th-century bridge which has burned down several times over the centuries, but continues to stay upright.

Innsbruck is a university town and winter sports center about two hours east of Bregenz, in the Tirol province. Skiing aficionados congregate here during the winter months. The town has hosted the Winter Olympics a few times. My favorite part of this place is the architecture and its dramatic backdrop: the Karwendel Alps.

To ever see Matterhorn with my own eyes seemed quite unreal. But, to be fair, living in the Swiss Alps – even more so. That would have been something unthinkable years ago. But hey, I’m here now. Therefore, living less than a 3-hour drive away from Zermatt was a reason good enough to finally go visit Zermatt and see the beast that Matterhorn is. And so we did!

When you are roaming around in the Swiss Alps, you are bound to see breathtaking scenery throughout, but Lauterbrunnen valley amazes everyone who visits it. On both sides of this expansive valley are spectacular cliffs climbing up to 300 meters till they meet the woody slopes.

Update: This place was like a breath of fresh air. Simply stunning surroundings (72 waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen alone) but pretty expensive to buy food! I have to say it would be a tie with Paris on my favourite destination! Would definitely come back time and time again! There is just so much to see and do! Save your pennies for this place.
Highlights: Stayed at camping Jungfrau in Lauterbrunnen. Most affordable place and best campsite with amazing home cooked meals!
